Gettysburg Auto Tour GAS-2013-06-12

The National Park Service’s free map for Gettysburg provides an auto tour of the battlefield. You can obtain it from the Visitor Center or at the seasonal information center on the Chambersburg road.

Although the map offers a general overview of the battle, it lacks substantial background information. This application, however, supplies historical and contextual details for each of the map’s designated auto stops.

The multitude of markers and monuments along the auto tour can be overwhelming. This application is tailored specifically for young visitors, offering a more engaging experience. Imagine an intrigued 11-year-old, much like myself many years ago, seated in the rear of the family Buick on a sweltering August day, devoid of air conditioning.

This application does not rely on GPS tracking systems and does not necessitate Internet connectivity while exploring the battlefield.
